July in Benjamin Preschool

Benjamin Preschool Senec

Bunnies and Kindergarten Class

During our Slovak educational activity focused on pre - reading readiness we welcomed the new hatched friend in our class - a dinosaurus. After voting we decided to call him - Lávosaurus.

Children had to come up with a story about him. To make it harder, they had to pick one picture from the pile and include that word in the story. Creativity, fantasy, group cooperation, concentration  and vocabulary growth were in the class through the whole activity. We discussed what fairy - tales need to contain. How do they usually start and end? Is the story based on reality? What ability does the main character and things have in the story? And so much more..

Why are fairy tales important for children?

Creative development

Imagination, Diversity: Culture, Generational Connection, Dramatic Influence

Cognitive Expansion

Emotional and Psychological Growth

Moral Training

Tiger and Lion Class

The Tiger and Lion classes have been abuzz with summer activities these past few weeks. The Lion Class created life-sized graffiti murals. The activity engaged their sense of touch, sight and sound, and helped developed their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It allowed them to explore a world of colour, creativity and self-expression which of course boosts self-confidence and emotional well-being.

The Tiger class, in turn, decided to cool down by making delicious (and healthy popsicles). This hands on activity allowed them to develop their fine-motor skills through peeling and cutting, as well as exploring the states of matter as we investigated how solids become liquids and liquids return to solids again when frozen. The best part however was of course getting to eat the fruit of our labour!

One of the most popular activities in the summer month of July was the adorable turtle craft. We created it using cotton swabs and colored water. During this activity, the children enjoyed a lot of fun and it can be implemented in various variations at any time of the year. This fine motor activity is great for building strength in little children hands. The Cotton Pad turtle craft is also great for talking and learning about mixing colors. Let's do it again!

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

This homemade lemonade recipe has only 2 ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to make. It is tangy, tart and and super refreshing.

The two ingredients in this lemonade recipe: freshly squeezed lemon juice & water. Oh, and doesn’t require any preparation or simple syrup made ahead of time which is on top of it unhealthy for our body!  Lemon contains a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fiber, and plant compounds that give them a number of health benefits.

This is a really good way to make lemonade with kids because it is quick, safe & easy…oh and delicious!

Homemade lemonade and sunny days of summer go together perfectly.  Clasp your cool glass and stir the lemony goodness. Yum!

When you say summer…we hear ice cream! Children eagerly checked all springtime when the ice cream store will be open after the cold winter. And we did enjoy a scoop of delicious ice cream a few times close to our preschool. You can hardly find a child not liking ice cream but you can easily  find many recipes on how to make your own homemade ice cream! We made one sorbet that was creamy, without any artificial ingredients and other one with no milk diet from fruits. Yummy!
